It all Started in a Little Workshop Back in 1959

Who We Are

In the late 1950's the economy was booming. Bill Merry and Cecil Herndon saw the housing demand and realized that these new homes would need ironwork. So in 1959 they opened a little metal shop in Nashville Tennessee. It wasn't long before their workshop was bursting at the seams with work and they were forced to relocate to a larger building. Many years of success followed and in 1979 Cecil Herndon decided to retire, so the Merry family purchased his interests in the business. From these humble beginnings, Herndon & Merry has grown to gain national acclaim as one of the country's finest decorative metal fabricators. Receiving more than 35 national design awards and featured in some of Americas finest homes and publications.

Founding Principles

Craftsmanship • Innovation • Service

Since the beginning, we've always focused on preserving our traditional skills and craftsmanship, while innovating new high quality products and services, which exceed our customers’ expectations. We're very grateful for all of the wonderful relationships we've had the privilege to develop with our customers over the years, some spanning many decades. We believe that our loyal customers and our founding principles are the reasons behind our longevity and success.

Our Drapery Rods

In 1998 we began hand crafting custom drapery rods for local interior designers, many of whom are still our customers today. Over the years, we have fabricated thousands of rods, always refining and improving our designs. Seeing the need for high quality rods outside of Nashville, in 2014 we launched a new line of drapery rods called Iron Rods by Herndon & Merry, tailor made for fine homes, fabric shops and interior designers. For the first time in our nearly 60 year history, our drapery rods became available all across the nation.

Family Legacy

After all these years, Herndon & Merry is still a family owned & operated business. Although Bill Merry Sr. is no longer with us, his legacy of craftsmanship, innovation and service lives on. His sons Bill Merry Jr. and Keith Merry now lead the company and we are blessed with a talented team of artisans, designers and fabricators.
